Character Name: Elizabeth Midford
Canon: Kuroshitsuji
Canon Information: wiki page.
Canon Point: Chapter 109, before going to Sphere Music Hall for the first time.
Age: 15. The wiki page says 13-14 but this is incorrect.
God Houses:
Frigg: The God that Lizzie would belong to most obviously. Love is the driving force behind Lizzie's very character, primarily her love for Ciel. Lizzie has completely altered herself to make Ciel happy.
Heimdall: Lizzie would belong to Heimdall because she is unfailingly loyal. When she cares about someone, in example Ciel, she is steadfast to their side and does whatever she needs to support them. She sacrifices for them without thought.
Sigyn: Lizzie is kind and compassionate, showing concern even for lower classes and orphans during a time when the class divide was much stronger and most different classes did not mix.
Lizzie would automatically be drawn to choose Frigg.
Personality: Despite a pampered, upper class upbringing, Elizabeth is an incredibly loving, caring person. She's compassionate even to those she is not required to be, who she could be as awful to as she wanted and no one would question it. Her driving motive is her love for Ciel, the reason she does nearly anything she does. Elizabeth's only wish is to bring him happiness, to restore the smile that he lost after the destruction of his home and family. Though she can be prone to tantrums and oblivious to the fact she has upset others, Lizzie is quick to feel remorse and a desire to make amends for what she's done. She treats those 'beneath her station' (such as servants) very well, even though she could get away with acting superior very easily and would not be questioned. There's simply not a truly mean bone in her body.
Lizzie also has the benefit of being more than meets the eye. Though she was born and raised in an era when intelligence was not seen as necessary in girls, Lizzie proves to be surprisingly clever and perceptive. When fighting the undead aboard the Capaigniia, she does so expertly, out-maneuvering the creatures around her. She's also the only one out of close family to begin to suspect that something is off about "Ciel", that 'off' being that he isn't Ciel at all. It takes her time to piece it together and find out the truth, but Lizzie is perceptive enough to pick up on the subtle hints in his behavior. She even sets up tests for him to be sure, all without giving herself away or Ciel catching on. There's no huge flashing button that gives this away-- it's small details the Lizzie notices and slowly pieces together.
Part of what leads to Lizzie finally finding out the true is her absolute tenacity. Lizzie is absolutely the most stubborn character in Black Butler, bar none. Once she has made up her mind to do something, it gets done. She's not easily swayed or persuaded to another way, even by those she would normally listen to. This shows in how steadfast she is in her dedication to protecting Ciel, as well as presenting a cute, innocent exterior and keeping her "scary" side hidden from him. Lizzie sticks to her guns, even though such 'rebellious' behavior would likely be looked upon poorly by Victorian society. Sebastian had to render her unconscious to keep her from trying to continue to protect Ciel aboard the Campania. Further than her canon point is from, when she discovers the real Ciel and Sphere Music Hall, she continues to run away from home to return, even when Sebastian forcibly brings her back. Elizabeth just doesn't give up on the things she wants.
Of course, for all of her good traits and willingness to bend the rules of her era, Elizabeth has the not-so-good side too.
Ultimately, Lizzie is still a product of her time. She's still a young lady raised in the Victorian era of England, living under strict Christian rules in a society that sees her as 'just' a woman. She stands by the values and ideals taught to her by her family and society, and these don't always jive well with modern values and progress. As such, many of her views are antiquated to the point of seeming ridiculous to the modern observer. For Lizzie, her purpose is to be a wife to Ciel and continue the Phantomhive family name by bearing children and that's natural to her. As she states, it's her (and thus a girl's) job to be surrounded by nice things like in nursery rhymes, smiling to please her Lord. These aren't views that she could not be swayed from, but they are ones that will take time to work through. Naturally, Lizzie has shown an ability to believe in exceptions-- While she's all in to teach Sieglinde how to act like a proper lady when meeting the Queen, Lizzie also shows admiration for her intelligence and ability to invent even though these are viewed as 'male' inclinations in her time.
In that vein, there's also the simple fact that Lizzie comes from a rich family, and has received everything she's wanted, likely with very few questions asked. As such, she can act spoiled. She expects to get her way, and pitches fits when she doesn't. It's hard to get her to accept 'no' for an answer, especially if she badly wants something. Being treated special and living an extravagant life with nice clothes and hot meals is completely natural to her, and the standard she expects. She can be extremely self-centered and act without thought very quickly.
And if Lizzie is acting with thought, it tends to be a very single-minded type of thought. The downside to how determined she is is that Lizzie is obsessive and stubborn. When the real Ciel tells her as children that he doesn't want a scary wife, she changes the entire way she presents herself and carries this with her into her adolescence. She strives to meet this 'cute' ideal so much, she's risked her life for it. The fact is, Lizzie can hyperfocus on a single thing and refuse to back down for years at a time, and this can lead her to miss important things or making big mistakes.
In total, Elizabeth Midford is a kind girl who loves fiercely; one who strives to grow up and become a 'proper' lady as expected of her. She just needs to calm down a little bit first.
